Christmas Concert 2010 is organizing now...

As I am writing this the exciting part of putting together all our performers for this year's concert is happening! We will be having both old and new faces again in this
year's event to be held Dec.5, 2010 at 7 p.m. at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church's Multi- Purpose Room. We are so grateful for the church to host this event still open to the community FREE ! It has been an amazing journey of faith and commitment to Warren County to even have this event each year . It is wonderful to be able to showcase our talented local performers at this venue. Howard Longmire :Our Otterbein Choral Director Passes

Just looking at this photo of the Mens' Chorus from the Otterbein Retirement Community in
Lebanon reminds me that off camera somewhere Howard Longmire had his baton raised !
The Men's and Women's Chorus' were projects dear to his heart and he was a talented musician
and choral director. Did I mention he was also a nice person? Howard passed away on Aug 4. and although
he was only with us for CWCC of 2009 he will be missed by all. Howard embodied what
community music is for all of us in our CWCC programs- a lifelong commitment to music.
Howard may have retired from a "job" but he did not retire from music- ever. He was an inspiration
to all and a beloved director to the singers in the Otterbein community. Howard made Warren County
a better place to live and he will be missed.

5th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION !

Better late than never as they say in some circles--
CHRISTMAS IN WARREN COUNTY 5th Anniversary Concert , Dec. 13, 2009 was the biggest and certainly
the longest concert ever.. so it is certain that for year 6 we WILL be moderating the length !
The participants in the concert once again were GREAT !! The concert
featured:

The Saint Francis De Sales Parish Children's Choir( photo)
The Lebanon High School Band Ensemble
Jubellation! Bell Choir
Heritage Music and Friends
Chapel Bells from the Lebanon United Methodist Church
Otterbien Men's Chorus
The Vivaldi Dulcimer Ensemble
The Lebanon Presbyterian Church Choir
and the Warren County Community Bell Choir.
This was a spectacular event in all ways.. to celebrate the anniversary of 5 years of bringing together
the Warren County Community in music.
Plans are underway for CHRISTMAS IN WARREN COUNTY- Year 6-
Dec. 5, 2010 at 7 p.m. again at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church.

More Bell Ringers !!

The other director for the Warren County Community Bell Choir is Gerry Profitt , Director of
Jubellation! at the Heritage Baptist Church in suburban Lebanon. This bell choir organization is only 2 years old but has already played in several community concerts as well as at worship services. Gerry has been ringing bells
since the 1970's when he was student at Pacific Bible College in San Dimas, California. He has directed numerous
bell choirs and been in a number of hand bell organizations. I would like you to meed his bell choir-
Jubellation! at a recent appearance at A CONCERT OF INSPIRATION June 14, 2009.
This bell choir will be part Warren Community Bell Choir debut performance, Dec. 13, 2009
at CHRISTMAS IN WARREN COUNTY: A COMMUNITY CONCERT: JOY TO THE WORLD.

25 Member Hand Bell Choir to Debut 12/13/09

.. Bells will ring for the debut performance of the Warren County Community Bell Choir. This choir is the creation of two directors- who actually met through the Christmas in Warren County concerts- Brian Matthews ,Director of Chapel Bell, Lebanon United Methodist
Church Bell Choir and Gerry Profitt, Director of Jubellation!, Heritage Baptist Church Bell Choir. These two
directors bring a wealth of talent to the concert. Brian has rung bells since a youth and since 1989 has been the
bell choir director at LUMC. Brian's mom is a ringer and his dad has assisted in setting up- so it is a family
event with the Matthews family.
As I can only post 1 photo per blog I am going to post today a photo of the Chapel Bells, bell choir.
This will be exciting as this year year bell choir will perform separately and then together- with
both directors taking a turn at directing the group. According to the American Guild of English Handbell
Ringers ,Vicki Iverson- by phone - she told me that currently they DO NOT have a group of ringers this
size registered. There may be a larger one out there but this is something big for Southwestern Ohio and
definitely the largest bell choir in the area.
