CWCC: Moving to Mason Dec. 2012

There is always some exciting news happening with the Christmas in Warren County Concerts and this year is no exception! For several years we have been asked about possibly having the concert in the Mason area by a number of our performers who live in southern Warren County. The concert this year will be on Dec.2, 2012 , 7 p.m. at the Mason United Methodist Church, 6315 So. Mason Montgomery Rd. , Mason,Ohio 45040. MUNC has a recently remodeled sanctuary and has wonderful facilities for both performers and audience.
This is the first United Methodist church to host the CWCC concert and in the spirit of our ecumenical and community vision we are totally delighted to be hosted by this congregation. DO save the date now and plan to be with us this our 8th year ! PHOTO: Mason United Methodist Church

With Spring in the Air it is not too early to be thinking about new groups for December --

I know it may be rushing it- and the last snow has not yet fallen ( there is always the big surprise snow in March !!) but now is the time to be alert to all the great groups which we may be seeing this spring and summer around Warren County - at our concerts, events , schools and churches !!
We are always so fortunate to be able to have the concert and to have such GREAT people perform every year.
This month I would like to 'spotlight" another new group we had this past year-
the Sax Quartet from Kings High School. This group of talented young men are under the direction of band director, Joe Polen and are allunderclassmen at the high school- who play like "pros". This was the first time we have had a 'sax" solo group at Christmas in Warren County and I certainly hope this is only the beginning of
having more new specialty groups like Natalie Woodrow's Flute Ensemble and the
Sax Quartet. If you missed the concert-they are also on YOU TUBE !
This is a great performance opportunity for these groups and we are really pleased to be able to give them a venue. PHOTO: Kings HS Sax Quartet warming up for CWCC 2011

Christmas Concert 7 - One we will remember !

This was another GREAT year for Christmas in Warren County. As director I don't know where to begin - and I will be making additional posts this time to celebrate some of our fantastic ensembles!
We had some new faces which were outstanding: The Natalie Woodrow Studio Flute Ensemble ( photo), The Kings Sax Quartet ( more on them later on) , The Lebanon Presbyterian Church Bell Choir, and the Little Miami Select Mixed Choir.
Returning with us were The North Cincinnati Youth Orchestra, The St. Francis de Sales Parish Children's Choir and Heritage Music and Friends Ensemble. Once again the county was well represented. We also have a new assistant director this year,
Ida ( prounuce that EE-DA) Shook.Ida is active in the music program at St. Francis de Sales Parish.

Meet Natalie Woodrow: Natalie is an accomplished flutist who has played a number of venues ( I heard her at the Mason Arts Festival) and with a lot of prestigious local groups. She is currently a private flute teacher and has her own student ensemble who performs. The Woodrow students come from the Mason, Liberty Township and West Chester areas.Natalie also directs a Youth Choir with the Mason United Methodist Church.

Again year 7 was a year to remember ! Soon we will be thinking about year 8-- time flies !!
